Olive Lane Retail Development
The Olive Lane Retail development used Ivanhoe Cream Original and Ivanhoe Westminster bricks. This soft-toned, characterful brick was chosen to reflect and complement the surrounding residential architecture while delivering a fresh, contemporary finish to this new retail high street close to Sheffield and Rotherham. The subtle contrast between the two Ivanhoe blends adds warmth and variety across the facade, giving the retail units a grounded but modern identity.
By combining familiar materials with sharp detailing, the finished elevation brings a clean, sophisticated rhythm to the high street. This material palette was developed in close collaboration with CODA architects, ensuring the brickwork aligned with the overall project vision. The bricks were laid using carefully considered bonds and jointing techniques to introduce depth, highlight texture, and catch natural light throughout the day.
Located at the heart of Harworth’s Waverley development, Olive Lane forms the commercial centerpiece of a wider masterplan. As a vibrant pedestrianised hub, it hosts a mix of retail units, medical services, food and drink outlets, and community spaces. This innovative project delivers vital local amenities in a setting that prioritises design quality. The result is a refined, modern elevation that elevates the streetscape.
